Rushing Toketee Falls Art Print

from $12.00

This is a quality art print produced by me in my home studio. The painting was done with watercolors at Toketee Falls in Douglas County, OR.

The Story:

This painting was created during my second time participating in a week long plein-air event in southern Oregon. Waterfalls were finally something I was ready to tackle plein-air and was really determined to do so. The two hour drive from where I was staying plus a 30 minute hike with my full painting bag and easel was going to be worth it. The breathtaking view blew me away and I dove into the painting with bright eyes. After being there for 4 hours and talking with the tourists and hikers for half that time, I realized it would not be a successful painting. Of course I am stubborn and went back the next day to restart. Although the painting was redone, it still holds all the energy from the the first day. It holds the excitement of the challenge, the stories of the twins who got in their car to see all the waterfalls they could before starting college, the laughs I shared with the retired couple who have lived in Oregon their whole lives and this is their favorite hike to do together. This is what I love about plein-air is the image captures the environment along with the emotions and memories that played a part in making it happen.
